You watch on television how large groups are gathering and no social distancing is being applied to them. Then, one day you hear that there are protests and business being set on fire. Let it shine, all the time, let it shine. Did you notice that once you stepped out that others followed? That you helped to light someone else’s candle? All around the neighborhood. You start to throw the ball to the next neighbor as you talk and laugh with them and before you know it the whole neighborhood is in the game as you watch the ball move further down the lane. You and him talk and laugh like the good old days and you start to notice others walk out of their homes with their gloves. You walk to your fence and hold up the ball as your neighbor holds up his glove and you throw it to him. He quickly joins you outside with his mitt and smiles. You remember the summer cookouts and the smell of burgers on the grill. You give a little smile and wave and he does the same. We look across the street to see our neighbor looking at us through his window. Someone might see a lion and someone might see a circus tent. We see the fluffy clouds that we once cherished as we tried to figure out the shapes in the sky. We watch as the world around us keeps going and we long to be outside with the fresh air and birds that fly in the beautiful blue sky. Today, many of us have been locked in our house afraid to go out because of a virus. Let me take you on a journey to help light the world. How many of us have a candle that is lit, but see that others around us do not. It talks about how we should let our light shine for Jesus. Do you remember learning this song? Do you remember the tune? Does it bring back good memories? Happy memories? Carefree memories? The song is a very simple, yet powerful song for many of us.
